Youth Meeting Easter 2016 in Bastogne
As you all maybe know, we hosted a Youth Meeting in Bastogne the first week of the Easter holidays, just after the terrorist attacks. After we decided, in concertation with the board to maintain the camp, unfortunately, Sweden, Great Britain and Italy decided on Friday that they wouldn’t send us their delegates. They should have arrived on Sunday… BUT, Germany replied positively and a family from Great Britain decided to support us, so we were happy to be able to have an international Youth Meeting.
Thanks to the support of the whole Youth Meeting staff, leaders, CISV board and Belgian parents (YOU!), the experience was a success. For some of our crazy cooking mums is was a challenge of being our kitchen staff, to discover the CISV spirit that goes with running a camp.
With so few participants (23 instead of 44), this week felt as a big family holiday. We were able to run CISV activities, with really interesting discussions.
Our theme (fashion week) was looked into on different levels, and we were able to recycle A LOT of all the clothing materials that all our members (YOU again!) managed to provide us. The atmosphere was sometimes really full of focus, but always cheerful.
With all the messages of support and thanks we received from all different parts of the world and from our participants, we have the feeling that we can say this week was a success and that everyone had a wonderful time. An experience that we will not forget!!
